The Bethlehem MusikFest is an annual week-long event held in the beautifully revitalized downtown Bethlehem, PA. The festival features multiple stages and hundreds of acts, big and small. I had the awesome opportunity to perform there this year with the Acoustic Roadshow. Fellow Roadshow performers that day included Leon Weidner & Scott Schmehl; Kellen Wenrich & Bryce Milano; Charlie Illingworth & Chris Thomas; Charlie Paplosky & Tim Risbon; The Martin Family; and, of course, Butch Imhoff. Early storm clouds gave way to a bright, but very warm day. Thanks to the family who trudged all the way to Bethlehem for the show, thanks to fans who bought my CD's . . . and thanks to the cool man who traded me a free Musikfest tee for an impromptu song!

I'm in a goofy mood here at Max Crema's tonight...could be the crapload of Kit Kats I ate before the show (I love Kit Kats!)...or it could be that I've just had my first Mountain Dew of the day...who knows...I just feel silly. Played the part of photographer during break tonight 'cause Momma was trying to do her homework...couldn't get anybody to make a silly face except Dad...figures! LOL

I've just got a new "baby!" I rescued her through Another Chance for Horses in Bernville, PA. She was scheduled to go to slaughter the day I picked her up from the auction. Her mane had already been cut off to sell for crafts (grrrrr!). I've named her "Loretta" (as in country great Loretta Lynn). She's a Belgian, in her late teens, supposedly pregnant...and she's a big ol' sweetheart. Here are a few pics...they'll be more to come for sure! And, thanks, Christie, at AC4H for all the great work you do!

The Bowers Chili Pepper Fest and the remnants of Hurricane Gustav...not a pretty mix...especially when the Pepper Fest runs rain or shine. This was my fifth year doing the fest, and the weather has always been gorgeous and the crowd large. Definitely not the case this year...but the show must go on. Thanks, all you die-hard pepper people who managed to huddle under tents and umbrellas to listen to my music.

Well, unfortunately, the time has come...the Hard Bean Hamburg is closing...another sign of the crappy economic times. I was the last act for the Hard Bean. No only do I have good memories of all the shows I've done there, but I also worked there as a while as a barista (can't say I miss those 4 a.m. wake-ups!) Thanks, Dawn, for everything...you will be missed!

So, tonight marks a first...the first show ever that my Momma missed. She has gone back to college full-time, and although she was on campus for my show, she was in class. If you've been to any of my shows, you know she's the one all over the place with the camera...so the job of "photographer" fell on Dad tonight. LOL! If you want a job done right, send in a woman. LOL! Anyway, showcased with Brian Peachy and "Not Alone"...sorry, guys, you'd never know it from the pictures! My Dad, gotta love him.

So, I get this e-mail a while back from Lynn who is in charge of booking entertainment for the Mifflin Community Library Summer Concert Series...turns out her Dad saw me perform at Border's (thanks, Mr. Lynn's Dad for the referral!!). Finally, here I am, on a beautiful summer night singin' at the Mifflin Community Park. A few surprises in the audience, too...my middle school band teacher and my high school chorus teacher...and Zach, one of guys in the great group who went with me to Germany for the first time a few years back. Anyway, despite a few glitches with the sound at the start, it was a lovely night to be singin' outside for family, friends, the Mifflin Community Library, and the great little borough of Mohnton!

Schatzi turned 2 in June...time to break her for riding. Decided to save my bones and some aggravation and take her to a professional...Ryan Coaxum (www.ryancoaxum.com). Awesome horseman (who refuses to smile for pictures...yeah, right, like Momma's gonna put up with that!). Fun stuff. Just had my first "ride" with the help of Amanda. Gotta admit, I was a little nervous, but it's all good. Thanks, Ryan 'n Amanda!...and Schatzi, I'm so proud of you!

Just back from my family's annual week-long beach vacation today and the Momma (a/k/a my photographer) is a little "pictured out" (she only took about 500 of them over the past week!) . . . so, only a few here from the show. That's okay . . . I think you all know what I look like by now and the goofy faces I sometimes make when I sing . . . but, hey, got some new hairlights . . . can you tell?

So, the whole idea behind the Reading Downtown Improvement District sponsored Tunes 'n Take Out is for everyone to grab their lunch and get outside in the summer sunshine for a little break and some free music . . . and it was just that. A beautiful, hot summer day . . . umbrella covered tables scattered in a courtyard . . . workers with their bagged lunches chillin' out . . . and me, just singin' in the sunshine. A nice mid-week, mid-day treat for me, too. Thanks, Deborah, for the invite . . . and Brendon, great job getting me in a good parking space (are you sure you took care of that ticket?!), setting up, and keeping things rolling along!

Back again at the Kutztown Festival as one of the showcasers with the Acoustic Roadshow...parked in the mud; had a quick storm blow through the tent and soak Sully; got upstaged by my new nephew, Buster; no corn pie...what's this world coming to? But, hey, got myself an awesome new belt with a nice shiny buckle.

My fourth year entertaining for the Schuylkill River Sojourners. I was told that they actually look forward to my performance every year...hey, it's one of my favorite gigs, too! There were a record number on the River this year...and, unlike last year, the sound equipment didn't crap out on me and thunder and lightning didn't steal the show. Pure sunshine...the weather and the people. Thanks, Wilderness Club, for inviting me back. Sojourners, I'll see you again next year!

Fresh off the plane from Germany . . . and, ironically, my first gig is at the German Folk Fest in Kutztown, PA. Just bought a dirndl on my trip, so I took the opportunity to wear the top for the performance. Momma's worn out from taking hundreds of pictures in Germany, so we've got a small album here . . . but just give her a couple of days, and I guarantee she'll be bouncing all over the place with that camera again.

Yes, after begging for a pony for about the last ten years and being disappointed every birthday and every Christmas morning . . . LOL . . . I finally went out and bought one myself. Matt and I picked her up today, May 30th . . . an adorable filly who will be a year old on June 13th. She's part quarter horse, part Belgian draft . . . and since Matt said I can't name her "Horsey," . . . LOL . . . I've named her "Schatzi," which is German for darling or sweetheart. I'm sure there will be lots more pictures, so stop back again soon.

Two stops on the road today . . . first, my annual showcase with the Roadshow at the Berks-Lehigh Guild of Craftsmen Show at the KU Fieldhouse . . . wow, wish I could sell that many CDs at every show! . . . thanks to all of you for your support. Also shook the hand of a woman who shook the hand of Johnny Cash . . . woo hoo! Then, an evening show at Crave . . . and the place was hoppin' . . . so nice to see so many people supporting a local coffeehouse and local musicians . . . some new fans on deck . . . fun night!
